STATE SCHOOL SUPPORTERS DELIVER THE KENNETT GOVERNMENT A STRONG MESSAGE

VICTORIAN STATE ELECTION: STRONG PROTEST VOTE PUTS KENNETT GOVERNMENT IN JEOPARDY

Supporters of public education delivered a strong message to the Kennett Government on Saturday 18 September 1999.

Those who have watched the erosion of our public inheritance in the areas of education , as well as health transport, etc. turned out in force to deliver a strong vote against Kennett policies.

Those in country areas as well as disaffected voters in a number of metropolitan seats have had enough - enough of the closure of schools;  bussing of children for long distances; imposition of the "self-government schools" program; contemptuous treatment of Parents and School Council organisations; loss of over 8000 experienced teachers; insecure employment for contract teachers;  and  ever increasing State Aid for  private schools.

Politicians of all parties will in future ignore the State School vote at their peril.

Congratulations to all those delivering the above message.
