AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL FOR THE DEFENCE OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS - D.O.G.S.

PRESS RELEASE 127#.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORTERS

DOGS wish to congratulate public school supporters for their

collection of signatures on the petitions to the legislative

assembly and legislative council regarding the review of

education and training legislation.

PETITIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT AND THE PETITION HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE HANSARD.

TO DATE MORE THAN 4000  SIGNATURES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED.

FURTHER SIGNATURES ARE BEING COLLECTED AND PARENTS AND TEACHERS INFORMED OF THE DANGERS OF THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION IN THE COUNTRY AREAS OF VICTORIA DURING LATE NOVEMBER and DECEMBER 2005.

PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND PARENTS WE HAVE CONTACTED ARE SHOCKED THAT TO DATE THERE HAS BEEN NO PUBLIC CAMPAIGN MOUNTED BY THE AEU VICTORIAN BRANCH AND THE PRINCIPALS ORGANISATIONS.

iF YOU BELIEVE WHAT IS IN THE NEWSPAPERS IT APPEARS THAT SOME PRINCIPALS ARE IN FAVOUR OF SETTING UP THEIR OWN privatized SYSTEM.

tHE RESULT OF THE PRESSURE ON THE VICTORIAN BRACKS / BRUMBY GOVERNMENT TO DATE APPEARS TO HAVE HAD SOME EFFECT.

THE LEGISLATION HAS NOT BEEN INTRODUCED TO PARLIAMENT AND PUSHED THROUGH BEFORE THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.

THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION WILL ALLEGEDLY BE AVAILABLE  IN DECEMBER AND KOSKY PLANS TO INTRODUCE IT INTO PARLIAMENT IN THE NEW YEAR.

IF IT MIRRORS THE WHITE PAPER PROPOSALS IT WILL SPELL THE END OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AS WE KNOW IT AND FOLLOW THE  PRIVATISATION PLANS OF BLAIR AND HIS OPUS DEI EDUCATION SECRETARY RUTH KELLY.

IF PUBLIC EDUCATION IS TO SURVIVE THE PLANS OF KOSKY AND HER PRIVATIzATION FRIENDS

THE PROPOSED REVIEW OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING LEGISLATION MUST BE STOPPED

 BEFORE IT STARTS!

For further discussion on these matters, listen to 3CR, 855 on the am dial

at

12.30 p.m. next Saturday.
