SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHURCH SCHOOLS

WHEN WILL THE AUSTRALIAN AUTHORITIES WITHDRAW FUNDING FROM

CHURCH SCHOOLS AS A RESULT OF SEXUAL ABUSE?

DOGS note that the Roman Catholic Press in Australia has noted that the Australian Catholic system has the potential to suffer the same fate that has befallen the Catholic system in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. According to the Roman Catholic Press, following the furore that has resulted from the uncovering of abuse in Christian Brothers Schools, all government funding was withdrawn.

As a consequence, there are no Roman Catholic schools in that part of Canada.

Who is covering up this issue in Australia? The Politicians, the Press, or the Priest.

The media is only too willing to hound individuals like Archbishop Pell and Dr. Peter Hollingworth, but when it comes to questioning the public funding of institutions where abuse has occurred, the media falls strangely silent.

The religious media has raised the question of silence, denial and collusion within a culture of cover up. DOGS have found that the cover up, on this matter, and many other matters relating to church schools and their massive public funding, extends to the secular media also.

The only place you will find material on this is on the DOGS program on 3CR and on this website.

DOGS refer to the Church Press which argue  that if the problem is not dealt with the Church run schools are in danger of not merely losing enrolments but also losing government funding.

DOGS point out that they should never have been given it in the first place!
