EDUCATIONAL TRIBALISM ON THE INCREASE:

BAD NEWS FOR THE AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITY

Not satisfied with the separation of children at the primary, secondary and tertiary level, the Church in Australia is now moving even further into the indoctrination or "churching" of pre-school children. Australian children are being divided on the basis of religious tribalism from the earliest years to adulthood. In the interests of religious tribalism a considerable proportion of Australian children  will be deprived of their  communal birthright - an education with fellow pupils from all backgrounds regardless of colour, creed, or ability to pay. They will be deprived of a public education which prepares their generation to live harmoniously together .

They will be deprived of learning to work, live and play together. The nation will be further burdened by division and internal networks in all walks of life intensifying  social disintegration.

State support of church schools leads to children being segregated in their formative years. If the children cannot associate in their basic educational experience, they will tend to be separated for the remainder of their lives.

This situation is  illustrated by recent developments in Queensland. The Catholic Leader, 4 February, 2007, proudly declared a "New Era Dawned" in Catholic Education in Queensland.  On January 30 they celebrated the opening up of 210 preparatory year facilities. A full time prep year of schooling has replaced part-time Pre school programs in Catholic primary schools throughout the State. About 6400 children started Prep for the first time.

Not surprisingly taxpayers have to date contributed generously to the $53.7 million cost.

The only path for Australians who want to live in peace and harmony with their fellows is to set aside division and cultivate understanding and friendship in a common school system which gives no cause for offence to any religious group.
